Week 4: Yes We Skipped Week 3, Sorry, Dialog and Sprites


Hello all!


Per usual, you can find more frequent updates on game progress on my instagram! We have some little test videos showing the dialog in action there.

I've made a lot of progress with the dialog system and object descriptions! There's a bit more left to do with it, but we'll get there.  I've also attached emitters to the fountain, clock and fireplace for some nice, in-game ambience. Shout out to our composer, Jake Wu (SiXing#1212 on discord) , who added a clock noise to one of the compositions, giving me the nudge to add a proper grandfather clock to the library.

If anyone has other suggestions for other objects to populate these rooms, feel free to let me know! I'm certainly going to be adding more plants to the entrance to the graveyard. I'd also like to add a friendly crow somewhere. 

I also still need to add the chest system somewhere. Can't have an RPG without random treasure chests--this may hinge on the limits of the current inventory system, however. I'll be remaking it at some point.  I'm not fond of it's current aesthetic, though it at the very least currently works.

Aside from that, for now I'd like to turn my focus to setting up the beginnings of the graveyard, and starting the battle system. We'll be starting small for this slice, but once Halloween has come and gone I can spend a decent amount of time refining it and adding more animations and areas and enemies etc etc etc

This is my hobby baby, so I'm just going to keep stacking on it until it's absurdly big.
